This week's recommendation is another film adaptation from a novel. This book being Mutiny from 1958 by Frank Tilsley. The movie selection for this week is H.M.S. Defiant (1962). It's a sea adventure from the age of sail. It's about the fictitious English war ship Defiant around the time if the 1797 Spithead Mutiny. In the USA it was released as Damn the Defiant!; I guess they thought Americans may not know what H.M.S stands for. Alec Guinness (1) portrays Captain Crawford. And his nemesis Lieutenant Scott-Padget is played by Dirk Bogarde (2). I would try to avoid the 'press gangs' in the port cities. You may not like were you end up. What? They stop pressing men into service? No wonder there are no more sailing ships...
