A James Cagney double feature week. Yes! His energetic performances to me were sometimes a bit over dramatic. But, most of his films are still a joy to watch. A vaudeville dancer before he signed his first contract, $400 a week for three weeks. What? One of the selections for the week is Angels with Dirty Face, 1938. The kids were portrayed by a stage acting gang known as 'The Dead End Kids'. They eventually became 'The Bowery Boys' and did movies together into the late '50s. The other selection for this week is The Roaring Twenties, 1939. From rags to riches to rags.
