The Heiress (1949) is another of those movies that ask the question, 'Are you good enough for my kid?' It also stars the great Montgomery Cliff. An actor who died way to young. For a film that basically failed at the box office, it did receive eight Oscar nominations and won four. It's also preserved in the National Film Registery. What do film reviewers really know anyway? Originally adapted from the 1880 novel Washington Square by Henry James, it stars as the young Ms. Sloper, the Best Actress Oscar winner for the film, Olivia de Havilland (1). And Ralph Richardson (2) plays her overbearing father, Dr. Sloper. So, this is the romantic drama selection for this week. Well? Are they good enough?
