Let me preference this by saying I don't like horror films! But, the recommended motion picture of the week is a sci-fi horror classic. It contains one of the best filmed scenes in movie history. The Thing from Another World (1951) is the pick for this week. Matt Dillon himself (Gunsmoke), James Arness (1) plays 'the Thing' and this is before CGI. The scene is filmed with no lighting other than 'the Thing' being on fire. I want to know who talked him into doing it? If you're into B movies, that's what they used to call sci-fi films, Douglas Spencer, the reporter, also did This Island Earth (1955)...
The Thing has been remade two more times, but only the Kurt Russell 1982 version is worth watching.
