Updated: Dec 10, 2022

Let's dedicate this week to a couple of US Navy WWII movies. From the Atlantic side we have, as the ship's commanders above the water, Robert Mitchum. And Curd Jurgens (1) is below the water. This one is called The Enemy Below (1957) and it's a story about part of the Battle of the Atlantic. It won an Oscar! It was adapted from the novel written by Denys Rayner of the same name...

From the Pacific side we have a couple of on screen legends. Well? A bunch of on screen legends. John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda, Patricia Neal, Burgess Meredith, and there's more. In Harm's Way (1965) covers the first year of the war starting around that faithful Sunday morning, December 7th, 1942. The book it's based on is Harm's Way by James Bassett. It's a realistic and a very unromantic portrayal...

And that's the double naval feature selections for this week...
