In general, I don't think historical films are very entertaining. Nor are some very accurate. That goes away to make the movie more entertaining. They are not documentaries. I call it writer and director privileges. They are trying to make them entertaining.
Men of Honor (2000) is suspenseful, entertaining and teaches a great life lesson. I don't care how accurate the film is, it portrays Master Chief Petty Officer Carl Brashear in a great light. Staring as Master Chief Brashear in one of his better performances is Cuba Gooding Jr. (2). Robert De Niro plays Master Chief Sunday. And as the wives we have Aunjanue Ellis (1) and Charlize Theron.
(2) Gladiator, 1992. Not that one. I found this by accident. It's a boxing movie. It's worth watching once.
