Edge of Darkness (1943) is a nice propaganda film from early in WWII. It's an Errol Flynn (1) delight and the recommendation for this week. Adapted from the 1942 novel of almost the same name 'The Edge of Darkness'. It's backdrop is a Norwegian village by the sea occupied by the Nazis. Walter Huston (2) is the doctor who has a quisling son. His daughter is portrayed by Ann Sheridan and Ruth Gordon is his 'if we ignore them they will just go away' wife. Just lovely...

Not to be mixed up with Mel Gibson's Edge of Darkness (2010). A total different subject matter but worth watching once...

(1) The Master of Ballantrae, 1953

(2) The Treasure of Sierra Madre, week 112
