Next we have a series of movies that spawned from one book written by the novelist Pierre Boulle (1). It's titled La Planète des singes and published in 1963. In British English, it's Monkey Planet. And Planet of the Apes in American English. That's how they were published. From this one book nine films have been made:
Planet of the Apes in 1968 staring Charlton Heston. And then four sequels not starring Mr. Heston. Well? That '70 excuse for a movie he plays a part...
Planet of the Apes in 2001 with Mark Wahlberg. It's just ok...
And this week's selection is the prequel to the book reboot;
Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011); You can watch the astronauts lift off in this movie.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014); In this film the Apes are turning human, but not in a good way.
War for the Planet of the Apes (2017); And the doll, you just need to watch...
This leads to a forth recommended movie for this week. The original '68 film Planet of the Apes. My preference to the '01 film...
“You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!” Taylor.
Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) is not a bad watch. The script is flipped. It's the first of a prequel sequel trilogy to the '68 film. You sorta have to watch it to understand.
