This week's selection will be a classic film-noir recommendation. It's about the Shamus Philip Marlowe. In this film version of the famous fictitious Private Eye, Marlowe is portrayed by the silver screen legend, and ever so cool, Humphrey Bogart. The diner 'do you have a light?' scene is pretty awesome. And his counterpart is played by the every so lovely and talented, and his wife, Lauren Bacall. Yea, that killer, sexy voice. They seem to work well together. This time they are in The Big Sleep, 1946...
One day I'll watch it and count how many 'offers' he gets. You know his considering it when he starts fiddling with his ear. In fact, most every time he starts thinking the ear gets a tug...
"If you can use me again sometime, call this number." Female cabbie.
"Day and night?" Marlow.
"Nights better, I work during the day." Female cabbie...
And the ending; "What's wrong with you?." Marlowe.
"Nothing you can't fix." Mrs. Rutledge...
Oh, did I mention that this week's selection was directed by Howard Hawks (week 79)?
"He said that. That's what the man said. He said that." Sidney.
