The Two Hundred 21st Week of this Blog

Updated: Oct 27, 2021

For this week, since there's a sequel, we'll have a twin billed matinee. A couple of films that pay tribute to the Film-Noir era. Both staring Paul Newman as Lew Harper, a Private Investigator. The first film also stars Lauren Bacall. It has a similar theme to the Film Noir classic The Big Sleep (week 204) she did with her husband Humphrey Bogart. Bogie plays the P.I. in that one. Newman has this role in Harper (1966). He revised the character nine years later in the film The Drowning Pool, 1975. Joanne Woodward (1) and a young Melanie Griffith star in this one. The big city P.I. travels to help an old friend who is; has a, ? problem...

And that be the recommended matinee for this week. Yea, that's a young Melanie in the pic.
