Blog II Forty 4

For this week let's do a twin billing. Since they're similar story lines or themes anyway. Why not? Also, similar stars, Clark Gable and Jean Harlow. Wait, ladies first. No, wait, she doesn't portray a lady in neither of this week's selection. Parental Guidance is suggested. The elder film is a pre-Code romantic drama from 1932, Red Dust. Pre-Code meaning before our rating system. I would give it a PG-17 rating. Set on a rubber plantation in French Indochina, in 2006 it was chosen for the National Film Registry. The later selection was adapted from the 1930 novel of the same name. Set mostly on a steam ship cruising the south China seas, China Seas (1935) is from just past the enforcement of the 'Hays Code'. It's still a PG-13. And that be your double feature semi-adult recommendation for the week...
