After the last poor acting Woody let's move onto better acting southern Californian football star. No, really? Not that school nor that player. This actor was part of the 1939 UCLA backfield known as the 'Gold Dust Gang.' The recommended movie for this week will be Sergeant Rutledge (1960) staring Woody Strode. John Ford (1) had just directed Woody in Pork Chop Hill (1959) and thought Woody was the best choice to play the role of 'Top Sergeant'. It was a very controversial film for it's day. Woody also had a role in 7 Women (1966).

(1) The Searchers (1956)
