Forbidden Planet (1956) is a pioneering film in the sci-fi genre. It's one of the first not to be considered a B-movie. It changed the way people saw the genre. Gene Roddenberry even says this film was part of what inspired him to create Star Trek. Please don't watch this in the old TV pan-n-scan. Find a wide screen version. And be wary of how much whiskey you request. This is the recommendation for this week and stars Anne Francis, Walter Pidgeon (1) and Leslie Nelson (2). Anne's little outfit got this movie banned in Spain. So much for the land of topless beaches.
