Both movies are based during the great depression. The '39 film was adapted from the 1937 play of the same name Of Mice and Men. It stars the legends Burgess Meredith(1) and Lon Chaney Jr.(2). The novel The Grapes of Wrath was published in 1939 and the film came out the next year. The Best Director winning John Ford directed Henry Fonda(3) in one of his finest performances. Again, why have you not seen these yet?
